I was thinking of making this book manditory for the course since it covers 1700 years of Christian thought on discipleship. Basically they have selected some of the best portions of 52 of the most well known Christian devotional writters of the past.
This is the classic on the spiritual disciplines. It takes 13 of the basic disciplines and explains how to practice them. I greatly appreciate the simplicity of the language and its focus on daily application.
