Creative IntroductionTemptation Bridge Sketch:{note: this sketch takes longer to read or to write than it does to act it out...it is acted silently and should take not much longer than 10 minutes}
WHAT IS NEEDED:
3 actors: 2 males; 1 female
Floor space large enough to hold two large circles (at least three feet in diameter each) spaced about three feet apart
World costumes: 1 male; 1 female
Jesus costume
Props: Bible, Christian Tee-shirt, fake cigarettes and alcohol, walk-man with headphones, 2 paper or cardboard circles and a cardboard Cross

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:
On the floor have one large green, blue and brown circle and one large white and gold circle spaced at least three feet apart but connected by a large brown "CROSS".

SCENE ONE
A boy and a girl enter the classroom (the girl is heavily made up to denote worldliness, the young man has on a "worldly tee-shirt"; both are laughing and holding cigarettes and beers...let your imagination go--but, not too far)
as they reach the "world" circle they embrace.

Enter the third youth dressed as Jesus, softly he approaches the two, gently and simultaneously he taps each on the shoulder. The couple separates--the girl looks at "Jesus", scowls and angrily shakes her head while stomping her foot...the young man looks long and straight into "Jesus" eyes and drops the cigarette and beer can...as they hit the floor "Jesus" reaches out and places His hand on the boy¥s shoulder and they kneel together as if in prayer...the young lady shakes her fists at them and stomps out of the room.

At her exit the pair rise and "Jesus" points at the cross and together they walk over. On the "other" side "Jesus" gives the young man (these things can be hidden under the costume) a Bible, a Christian tee-shirt (which he puts on over the other one and again use your imagination here there is no set number of props). The young man then sits cross-legged on the circle and begins reading the Bible..."Jesus" exits. Every once in a while the young man looks back at the "world" circle but, shakes his head "no" and resumes reading.

The girl re-enters and returns to the "world" circle (this time she has, in addition to the cigarette and the beer, a walk-man with headphones and is dancing to the music)...the young man looks over the "cross bridge" and waves to her...she ignores him....he lifts the Bible her way and invites her to join him....she refuses but, teasingly and very invitingly beckons to him...he rises...she holds out the can and shakes it....he shakes his head "no"...she offers the cigarette and again he declines...she drops them and moves to the edge of the "bridge" still swaying easily to the music....he joyously rushes to the edge of the "bridge" and flings his arms wide...she acts as if she is testing water and places her toe on the edge...he claps his hands and lays down his Bible then rushes to the center of the "bridge"...she pulls her toe back and begins to dance with boldness and glee...he throws his hands up as a buffer between them with a look of dismay on his face....she laughs...he pleads for her to join him...she suggestively entices him back...he looks back at the "other" side, and even inches backwards but, she stomps her foot while opening her arms...he takes a full step towards her.

"Jesus" enters, stands in the "other" circle, the young man sees Him and turns towards Him..."Jesus" picks up the Bible and offers it...the young man crosses over to Him and they both sit this time and read together...the girl sinks to the floor and pounds her fists.
DARKEN THE ROOM...the players exit.
AS the lights are turned on again begin the lesson:

Point 1 of Main Point:
Saying--"How Temptation Works"..."It begins with our desire".
Read this article "It begins with our desire" [by Chris Priebe] outloud and encourage the class to think of temptations that plague them. Have them write these in the margins of their "print notes".

Turn in the Bible to James 1:13-15 and read these passages...then read deecee4jaycee¥s response...ask the class to think on what their "sin cycle" might be.

Point 2 of Main Point:
Read "It is when this desire is enticed" [by Chris Priebe] going directly into "Examples" [by Chris Priebe].
Have an older youth step to the "world" circle and read Genesis 39 using the New King James Version.
Step to the "other" circle as he/she finishes and read or quote "The Conflicting desires" [by Chris Priebe] continuing from there right into "The old bridge illustration again" [by Chris Priebe]--(don¥t forget to have the youth return to his/her seat).

Point 3 of Main Point:
Move to the center of the "cross bridge" quoting "It comes down to a choice" [by Chris Priebe]. Have the group write their "sin cycle" in the box in the "print notes" (the pictures from the web-site do not print out so it leaves a box in that space) beginning with "triggers" right through to "actions" then have them print in larger letters over the box CHOOSE!Romans 6:12.
Quote or read "Since it is a choice, it comes down to which do we love more" [by Chris Priebe] pointing to or stepping to the appropiate circles as you speak. Have the class draw in the next "box" the two circles and the "cross bridge", then have them place themselves into the picture.

Closing Illustration and Applications:
Read deecee4jaycee¥s response but, end it with "the choice is YOURS"....have them add to each list on their "notes" encouraging them to add personal responses not just "good answer" ones. Close with the song "I Have Decided to Follow Jesus".
