Yet Biblical meditation is very different from eastern meditation. The goal of eastern meditation is to empty the mind from everything and enter into a state of nothingness. The goal of Christian meditation is to fill the mind with the thoughts of God and be conformed into the image of Christ. It is summarized well by the verse that says, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." (Phil 4:8 ) NIV.

One then is an emptying and the other is one of filling
