Jennifer Hiebert (A.K.A. Mrs. Hiebert), age 21, taught grade 6 for 2 years, going into 3.

Linda Vista School offers the students a great education! Its wonderful to be one of the teachers for these bright kids. The Abeka Cirriculum is great! Its so much fun to teach because there are teacher guide books, lots of suggestions in each subject, and it includes lots of ideas for fun review games in the classroom. There is also quite a bit of room to use your own ideas as well.

Getting to know the students as individuals in the beginning of the year is exciting. All of the teachers and students meet at the church steps on the first day, and from there, we walk with our students to our classroom. You get them all to yourself; a group of little strangers, all looking up to you, and waiting for your directions. So much fun!

Another important event that happens is Christmas. The students start practicing in November for the program they put on every year. Its very important to them; they enjoy performing for their parents and famliy.

They also have a field trip or science fair/exhibition (alternating every year) in Feb/March. They have a Spelling Bee as well, right around that time. After the last day of school, there is either a big fair, with boothes, or a large picnic, with races and games. This last year, some of my students set up their own booths, and had a jolly ol' time watching people suck beans with a straw, or trying to empty a baby bottle faster than their opponent. Its a laugh!

Theres lots to look forward to, along with at least one holiday every month. Usually, if you go to town, you'll run into a lot of people you know, because parents take their kids to the dentist, you go shopping, etc.

The school is on 3 different levels of a hill, and has 2 sports fields. It has an amazing view. It's also located relatively close to everything, park, church, stores, apartments, etc.

I stand behind LVS and believe this is a really good school. The Board and principal support the teachers, and most of the parents do as well. Its a wonderful opportunity; If you are contemplating teaching, come down and try it out! If you want some experience, if you want to do something fun and new, if you want to work with God's ministry, or if you feel that God is calling you to come teach! Whatever the reason, if you love God, you love kids, and you love Belize, (heat 'n' all) fill out an application and see what God has in store for you! -Mrs. Hiebert.
